One of the priority objectives of the project is to promote the discovery of natural systems through the knowledge of small mammals and their population dynamics, emphasizing the importance of collecting data on the evolution of communities by means of an easily reproducible protocol. In addition, the project is a remarkable tool for raising awareness by discovering a key fauna group to the ecosystems. The dissemination work is carried out through the following activities and resources:
They are aimed at preparing future collaborators of the project. On the one hand, intensive one-weekend courses are offered, where we focus on the identification of the species and we put the sampling methodology into practice. Aspects related to the handling of animals and the analysis of ecological data are also included. Technical meetings are organized for a more specific audience, who already know the project and need to gain confidence in the manipulation of the species.
They are divided into two types according to whether they are aimed at the general and family public or at the school level.
Collaborative trapping check in a sampling station, so that attendees can learn about the project methodology and see first-hand some small mammals. In addition, talks, games and workshops are organized to contextualize the species and their study: masks, bookmarks, owl pellets, skins, etc. The sessions are disseminated as an annual program within the Segueix la natura cycle, coordinated by the Natural Sciences Museum of Granollers.
Workshops in schools that aim to introduce students to the knowledge of small mammals by means of an interactive talk and the use of visual and practical resources, such as skin observation or owl pellet analysis.
Two resources to raise awareness of small mammals and their importance in ecosystems.
Resources that allow you to practice species identification from images and understand how the protocol facilitates the analysis of the data obtained.
