Edible dormouse

Glis glis (Brisson, 1762)

Medium-sized rodent, with grey dorsal fur and a totally white belly. It has large black eyes that are surrounded by a small circle of black hairs. It is an arboreal, nocturnal animal, and one of the few wintering rodents found in the Iberian Peninsula. He is vegetarian and has a predilection for nuts with a high caloric content. It is a species with Central European environmental requirements, mainly associated with the deciduous forest, and it is distributed throughout the northern peninsular fringe. It presents a single annual reproduction at the end of summer. Very rare species, it does not exceed 1% of the catches of the SEMICE project.
